History of Buttacavoli Industries, Inc

Bruce Buttacavoli, president of BII grew up in Marysville California and after graduating from Marysville High School, started in the construction industry in 1973 working in a couple of locally owned sheet metal shops. This was his first construction experience. After a couple years in the sheet metal trade, Bruce decided to go into carpentry. He went to work for a local custom home builder where he learned to build homes from the ground up. That was the start to the end of an era when carpenters knew how to build homes from start to finish and every step in between.

After a number of years in the trades, Bruce obtained his class B general building state contractor's license and started Buttacavoli Construction Company. This was May 1977. The company specialized in new homes, apartments and custom remodeling.

In 1979 the idea of starting a "window" company was a vision Bruce and a friend had and saw it become a reality when Bruce along with his friend partnered up to open "Yuba Window Co". This was the first of its kind in the area to be a full fledge window company specializing in just windows. Up until this time windows were purchased through lumber yards and glass shops whose main business was lumber and glass repair.

In 1980 the economy started its spiral downward and the company felt it. By 1981 Bruce along with his partner decided to dissolve their partnership and "Yuba Window". Although Buttacavoli Construction continued to do well, Bruce only continued to sell windows in a much smaller capacity.

By 1982 Buttacavoli Construction became Buttacavoli Industries enabling the company to stretch into three parts, Construction, Windows and Insulation. Bruce now held a class B, C-2 and C-17 license.

The focus in those years became ways to economically weatherize your home. P.G. & E. had a number of different programs available to help communities accomplish this. Buttacavoli Industries specialized in helping low income communities become more energy efficient.

The programs consisted of storm window installation, attic and wall insulating and small damage repairs. The programs were very successful and helped BI be successful in slow economic times.

Toward the end of the 80's the economy was on the rise and so was BI. As the window division grew, the insulation division slowed and eventually was closed due to the end of the "weatherization" craze.

Buttacavoli Industries had few competitors in those days who actually specialized in custom windows and doors. As the window division grew, it eventually over took all the divisions and became the full focus of the company. With the idea of being a specialty company, BI started installing windows along with providing them. The company, now as a specialty company, took on the replacement of old windows and doors. The energy craze was popular again.

Buttacavoli Industries continued to add specialty items such as shower doors, mirrors, wardrobe doors and suntunnel skylights. The tag "Your Window and Door Store" seemed fitting for the accomplished specialty company.

With the company continuing to grow it was broken up into two divisions now.......new construction and replacement. The focus was on custom home builders and home owners. BI continued its growth for many years as a specialty contractor.

In 2006 Buttacavoli Industries incorporated as it had grown to be a formidable company. A third commercial division was added and BII was now a complete "Window and Door Store". The addition of the commercial division, has been very successful with projects such as Hampton Inn Suites, Hilton Inns and other commercial projects such as Burger King and many Assisted Living and apartment projects.

Bruce believes the success of the company has been due to great community support.

Today BII covers a large service area and continues its success with a new historical designed building of 4200 sq. ft. and now occupying over 9000 sq. ft. in Marysville, California where it all started in a 2400 sq. ft. office and shop.
